1. Begin with your greenery
Prior to starting, we created a 3×3 grid using tape on the opening of the vase. This will help the stems sit upright and stay in place. Then, we added in our Israeli Ruscus, making sure to place them at different angles.
2. Add your filler flowers
Filler flowers are used to fill in the arrangements and they often have more than one lateral. For this arrangement, we used hypericum berries. (Make sure to remove any excess greenery.) These berries can easily add fun texture and interest in an arrangement. They are also easy to work with and have a vase life of eight days with proper care and handling.
3. Add your focal flowers
Now, add your focal flowers; these are usually flowers with a large bloom. For this arrangement, we used sunflowers, which provided the perfect pop of color. Remember to work in a circle and rotate your vase as you arrange. This will allow you to see where more stems can be added for a fuller look.
4. Fill in any empty space
We love using flowers like baby’s breath to fill in any space left empty. A little bit goes a long way with this type of filler! Then, we added in freesia for height and interest.
5. Add your delicate stems
Last but not least, layer in your delicate flowers and continue to rotate the arrangement to make sure you didn’t miss any spots. Ranunculus is a great choice if you’re looking for a flower with a high-petal count. They’re very beautiful and provide amazing texture as well.
