Reflexing flowers, otherwise known as inverting petals, is an old technique used by designers that has recently introduced itself back into the floral world.
This technique is simple and requires you to carefully flip back some of the outer petals to achieve the new look. Reflexing works great on flowers like roses and tulips and can easily take your traditional flowers to the next level. Keep scrolling to learn how to reflex a rose.
Why Reflex Flowers?
If you’re looking for a luxe look and feel, then reflexing your flowers can definitely achieve the look! It’s also a great technique to implement if you’re looking to refresh your older blooms.
Some designers often use this technique to create a substitutional option for other flowers like gardenias.
How to Reflex a Flower
Prior to reflexing the flowers, ensure they have properly hydrated. Then begin processing your flowers, which means removing the guard petals and greenery.
Begin with the outermost petal. Grip the base of the petal between your thumb and middle and pointer finger. Slowly push your thumb up between your two fingers to flip the curl direction of the petal.
Repeat the step above until you’re satisfied with the way it looks!
