Worried About Allergies?

flower ideasEven if you or your fiance have allergies, you can breathe easily on your wedding day. Plan ahead and don’t let allergies get in the way of your decorating ideas, and your desire to walk down the aisle with a beautiful bouquet. Here are a few tips in making your flowers and decorations allergy-friendly.

  • Try allergy-friendly flowers. Waxy flowers such as tulips and lilies can often be tolerated by those with allergies. On these flowers the pollen is too sticky to float through the air. Also, some blooms contain few allergens (like sunflowers). Talk to your florist about allergy-friendly flowers.
  • Consider natural ingredients in your bouquets and centerpieces. Small fruits or berry bunches can add a unique look to your decor without making you sneeze.
  • Use greenery. This is a great way to make centerpieces look stunning and sophisticated. You can add ruddy apple, champagne grapes, or simply use long branches in a glass cylinder vase.
  • Be creative on your centerpieces. There is no rule you have to use flowers. Votives and candelabras make for warm and inviting centerpieces, especially when placed on a square mirror in the center of the table. You can get really creative and have a goldfish in a decorative bowl, a cake or chocolates elegantly displayed, or even picture frames displaying fun and romantic pictures of you and your groom.

No matter what you do to make your wedding day more allergy-friendly, the most important thing you can do is a test run! You and your fianace need try things out ahead of time to see how your allergies will react. Happy Planning!
