Working With Your Florist

rosesWhen planning your wedding, the initial vendor contacts can seem somewhat overwhelming. There are so many questions in your mind and you are trying to make decisions at the same time.

Here are a few questions to keep in mind when meeting with your florist.

These initial questions will help you choose the florist that will work best for you.

  • What is the florist’s design philosophy? Minimal? Traditional? Elegant? Edgy and modern? Florists love explaining their artistic sensibilities — the styles they love, their favorite flowers, the palettes they adore. Do the florist’s views fit with your own ideas?
  • Does the florist’s style — and the overall look of the shop — match yours? (This is common sense. Go with your gut.)
  • Try to gauge the florist’s expertise by asking questions. What flowers will be in season when your wedding takes place? If your budget is on the small side, ask how you can maximize your options. What are some less expensive alternatives to blooms beyond your price range?

When choosing your florist, these questions will  help the process seem a little less overwhelming. Each florist is unique in their style and you want to find the one that best matches yours.

Another option brides have is to take a do-it-yourself approach. One great way to do this (and save some money) is to order flowers online. Ordering your flowers this way allows you to order more flowers for less and have fun creating your own style.

Whatever approach you take, just stick with your style. Decide what you want for the look of your flowers and find a florist that can make your flower dreams come to life!
