Wedding flowers… with a meaning!

July 6th, 2009 Posted in DIY Wedding Flower Ideas, Flower Themes, Flower Types, Wedding Planning and Ideas

From ancient times humans have admired flowers and used them in many ways: as ritual elements, to decorate, to show affection, and even as food! Today, they are still a very important part of our daily lives. Who hasn’t bought flowers for a loved one, as a birthday present, to apologize, to make home look nicer or just because? Weddings are not out of the increasing group of events where flowers are a must. The magical touch they give is irreplaceable! But when the time comes, choosing the perfect flowers can become a harder task than we thought. Flowers are so diverse and each and every one so amazingly beautiful in its own way that we get lost in a never-ending sea of possibilities.

Having so many things to worry about besides flowers during the whole “wedding planning process” the bride’s favorite flower has become the usual choice, however, there are many other ways to choose our dream flowers. If you have some time to do a little research Floriography could be one of those options. Wondering what that is? Well, it is also called “the language of flowers” and it refers to the symbolic meaning of each flower type. The most widely spread flower meaning is the one given to red roses, a symbol of love in every culture. This science uses history, mythology, and even religion to give these meanings; not many of them known by most of us. To make it easier for all our future brides here is a list with some of the most popular flowers… and their symbolic meanings!!!
