wedding receptionIn the wedding planning process you will probably find yourself having the infamous discussion- band or dj?

You can choose whatever you want as your reception entertainment. Many couples have friends that dj or plan in bands, while others hire these vendors. Whether you are going with someone you know or someone new, there are questions you will want to ask to ensure that the music will complement your wedding day theme.

  1. Do they know/have musical selections that complement the feel and mood of your wedding?
    What music do they recommend?
  2. Are they willing to learn new songs or find songs that you really want at your reception?
  3. Can they commit to not only your wedding date, but your schedule as far as when you need them to set up?
  4. Are they familiar with your reception location and the logistics there?
    What is their cost?
  5. Is there a break-down of the expenses? Do they have a minimum time or an overtime fee?

The music at your reception is important, but it is also an area you can save money if you need to. Many friends may be willing to offer their musical talent as their wedding gift. If you do want to hire a professional though, just start asking around. Everyone has been to an event or party with a band or a dj and can give their opinion and receommendations. You can also ask your reception site manager if they have any preferred vendors that they think would work for you.

Whatever you choose for your reception entertainment, just be sure to make it something you will enjoy. Whether you are hiring the swing band you have always loved or burning mixes on iTunes, make is what you want for celebrating your day.
