Giving Flowers as your Wedding Favor

When your guests leave your wedding, it is a nice gesture to give them a wedding favor. Where did wedding favors originate? Centuries ago, according to history the European aristocrats started the wedding favor tradition. They would send guests off to home with a bononniere – a cube of sugar. These bononnwedding favors wedding flowersieres were placed in a box made of porcelain, crystal, metal or precious stones. Bononnieres were not exclusive for weddings however. Europeans gave out the bononnieres, they were passing on good luck onto their guests. Through time, each one of the ornate boxes, were 5 almonds, or other pieces of candy. Each piece of candy had a meaning: health, wealth, fertility, happiness and long life.

In each country, there are specific traditions to Wedding Favors. For example in Italy guests will get chocolate covered almonds, Spanish weddings gift small vases with orange blossoms, Pakistan wedding favors are small elegant fabric bags or paper boxes that have candies, toffees, almonds, dried dates and other types of dried food, and more. There are many ways you can give out your wedding favors have them at each place setting, have a small table outside, mail them the day after your wedding.

A Wedding Favor does not have be something extravagant or perfect, but rather a token of appreciation. Guests will treasure your gesture while remembering what a wonderful wedding you hosted. Be creative and unique with the wedding favors you gift.

Some creative wedding favors include: packets of wildflower seeds, a customized CD with some of the wedding songs (be careful of copyrights), homemade jams or jellies with a personalized sticker on the jar, or gift them part of your wedding flowers used at your wedding. For example, if you use Orange Gerbera Daisies, you could use a DIY Green wedding flower vase. Being creative like this has a dual purpose, your wedding favor can also be the place cards at each table and as a bonus add more color to your table.

Whatever you decide to gift for your wedding favor the gift will be appreciated and add to the wonderful memories created at your wedding. Remember your favors do not have to be costly but rather give a gift from your hearts.
