Here are a few of the basis styles and shapes of wedding bouquets.

  • Round

This simple, elegant bouquet is suitable for both formal and informal weddings. The flowers are arranged in a simple circular pattern with the flower of your choice. Many women choose to use only roses, clustered tightly together and wrapped with ribbon or rafia for a simple, timeless look. This bouquet is easy to make at home. (Do-It-Yourself Bridal Bouquet)
  • Nosegay
This bouquet is small, round in shape, and often uses flowers that are lighter, and more airy than those sometimes seen in larger bouquets. A nosegay may also be placed inside of a tussy-mussy (small Victorian style cone-shaped holder available from wedding supply stores) for a traditional, or period wedding. This bouquet is simple to put together, and a good idea for flower girls and bridesmaids.
  • Hand Tied
This type of bouquet is generally round in shape, and hand tied with a ribbon or other material such as rafia, leaving the cut stems exposed. For this type of bouquet you may use your choice of flowers, from daisies to roses, to calla lillies and sunflowers. Out of all of the bouquets listed, this is the easiest to construct on your own, and can be put together at the last minute.
  • Cascade
This popular bouquet style is also referred to as a teardrop or waterfall bouquet. The long falling style is an elegant one that can sometimes be difficult to make at home without the help of a professional florist. The flowers in the bouquet are arranged first at the top in a cluster that then tapers downward, often with greens or ribbons attached. A cascade bouquet is often arranged with roses as the focal point, and other, more airy flowers as fillers. It´s best to prepare this type of bouquet ahead of time, as it can involve more intricate hand-work.
