On Saturday May 9, 2006 the White House opened its doors to celebrate a wedding.
It has been 40 years since our nation’s capitol hosted nuptials but this past weekend a small crowd gathered for a party on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Alexander Ellis IV is the son of the president’s first cousin. He wed Sarah Aker at St. John’s Episcopal church across the street from the White House. The guests then gathered at the Capitol to celebrate the wedding reception.
A friend of mine met Aker’s boarding school room-mate as she and her husband toured the city prior to the wedding. Dressed in smart cocktail wear they were excited for a destination wedding like no other.
